Add/Edit Target

Add/Edit Target

Content

A Target represents a service or network asset that is monitored by one or more agents via one or more active tests. Targets consist of one or more resources, each of which can be tested with one of five types of network tests.

There are three ways to create a target: predefined SaaS targets, target templates, and custom targets.

  • SaaS Targets: Monitor one or more SaaS applications from a pre-defined list.
  • Target Templates: Create multiple targets from templates to monitor websites, DNS, VPN, and local gateways.
  • Custom Targets: Create a fully customized target made up of ping, DNS, HTTP, traceroute, or path analysis tests.

Add a New Target

To add a new Target:

  1. Go to the Targets tab.
  2. Click the Add Target button or thumbnail (depending on whether you have the list or thumbnail view selected) to access the Target creation wizard.  This step-by-step wizard will guide you through the process of setting up the Target.

Custom Targets

  1. Click Custom Target
  2. Input the following information:
    • Name (required) and Description (optional): The name of the new Target and a brief description.

      • Assign Tests: Once you have created a Resource, you can assign tests to it. Click the Add Test buttons to add Ping, DNS, HTTP, Traceroute, and Path Analysis tests. A test will be created with default settings.  Click the settings cog on the test bar to configure the test.  You can add multiple tests of the same type to a Resource for all tests except Path Analysis.

The default email addresses will be added to this Target. You are able to include additional email addresses to this Target. Wired on WiFi Tests

WiFi sensors have the ability to run real-time tests on the ethernet interface. Wired tests on WiFi are enabled on a per-target basis. Tests can be run over wired, wireless, or both interfaces. This feature is only available on the Network WiFi agents.

Visit this link for more information on how to enable Wired on WiFi Tests.

VPN

Targets can be configured to run tests only when the VPN interface is connected to assigned agents. This helps eliminate false positive alerts in NetBeez when performing tests that only exist while connected to a VPN. This feature is only available on agents with a VPN interface.

Visit this link for more information on how to enable VPN Tests.
